Refund & Cancellation Policy

Overview
All payments on OpenCareerAI are processed securely by Razorpay, a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulated payment gateway, in Indian Rupees (INR). This policy governs all subscription plans and add-on purchases made through the Service.
Please read this policy carefully before making any purchase. By completing a payment, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this policy.
1. Cancellation Policy
1.1 How to Cancel
You may cancel your subscription at any time, without penalty, from the Subscription page in your account dashboard (Settings → Subscription → Cancel Plan).
1.2 What Happens After Cancellation
- Your paid features remain fully active until the end of your current billing period. You will not lose access the moment you cancel.
- When the billing period ends, your account is automatically downgraded to the Free tier. Your data (profile, resumes, job history) is retained.
- No partial or prorated refunds are issued for cancellations mid-cycle.
1.3 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle through Razorpay's recurring payment system. It is your sole responsibility to cancel before the renewal date if you do not wish to be charged for the next cycle.
2. First-Subscriber 7-Day Refund Window
If you are a first-time paid subscriber (this is your first ever paid plan on OpenCareerAI), and you are not satisfied with the Service, you may request a full refund within 7 calendar days of your initial subscription payment.
Eligibility conditions:
- This is your first paid subscription on OpenCareerAI (previous free-tier use is fine).
- Your refund request is submitted within 7 calendar days of the payment date.
- You have not generated more than 5 AI-assisted outputs (resume optimisations, interview feedback sessions, code reviews, career reports, etc.) during the 7-day window.
- Your account is in good standing and has not violated the Acceptable Use Policy.
How to request:
Email support@opencareerai.com with the subject line "Refund Request — First Subscription" and include your registered email address and the Razorpay transaction ID (found in your payment confirmation email).
If approved, the refund will be processed to your original payment method within 7–14 business days. Upon refund, your account is immediately downgraded to the Free tier.
3. Add-On Purchases
Add-on credit packs (extra AI calls, additional mock interview credits, etc.) are non-refundable after purchase, regardless of whether the credits have been used. These are consumable digital goods and cannot be transferred, resold, or carried over after account cancellation.
4. General No-Refund Policy
Except as stated in Section 2 above, all payments are final and non-refundable. No refunds, credits, or adjustments will be issued for:
- Subscription renewals (monthly, quarterly, or annual).
- Dissatisfaction with AI output quality, feature availability, or service performance.
- Unused usage quotas, AI call credits, or tokens within a billing period.
- Accidental purchases or duplicate payments — please verify before confirming payment.
- Service downtime, interruptions, maintenance, or temporary unavailability.
- Account suspension or termination for policy violations.
- Change of mind, personal circumstances, or no longer needing the Service.
- Returning subscribers (only the first subscription is eligible for the 7-day window).
5. Erroneous Auto-Renewal Charges
If you cancelled your subscription at least 24 hours before the scheduled renewal date, but Razorpay's auto-pay system still charged you due to a confirmed processing error, you may request a refund under the following conditions:
- You submit a refund request to support@opencareerai.com within 48 hours of the erroneous charge.
- You provide your username, the Razorpay transaction ID, and evidence of your prior cancellation.
- You have not used any paid features after the erroneous charge. Any usage of AI features, paid-tier tools, or credits after the charge immediately and permanently voids refund eligibility.
If all conditions are met, the refund will be processed within 7–14 business days. Upon refund, your account is immediately downgraded to the Free tier.
6. Payment Processing
All payments are processed by Razorpay in Indian Rupees (INR). Razorpay is compliant with PCI-DSS and is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. We do not store your credit or debit card details. Disputes related to payment processing are additionally governed by Razorpay's Terms of Service.
