Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules governing what users — both job seekers and recruiters — may and may not do on OpenCareerAI. It supplements the Terms of Service and forms part of your agreement with us.

By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violations may result in account suspension, permanent termination, and in serious cases, legal action.

1. Rules for All Users (Job Seekers)

1.1 Profile & Identity Integrity

  • You must not create a fake profile, use a false name, or impersonate another real person or entity.
  • All information in your profile, resume, and application materials must be truthful and accurate. Fabricating qualifications, work experience, educational credentials, or skills is strictly prohibited.
  • You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits, account bans, or subscription restrictions.

1.2 Job Applications

  • You must not use automated scripts, bots, or tools to mass-apply to jobs beyond normal human behaviour.
  • Spam job applications — submitting identical or near-identical applications to large numbers of roles without genuine interest — are prohibited.
  • You must not use the Service to harvest employer contact information for unsolicited outreach.

1.3 Platform Integrity & Technical Restrictions

  • You must not scrape, crawl, spider, or use automated tools to extract job listings, candidate data, or any other content from the Service.
  • You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code, algorithms, or trade secrets from the Service.
  • You must not attempt to bypass, probe, or exploit any security feature, rate limit, authentication mechanism, or access control.
  • You must not introduce malicious code, viruses, malware, or harmful scripts into the Service.
  • You must not use the Service in any way that could damage, overload, or impair the Service's infrastructure.

1.4 Coding Practice & Interviews

  • You must not publicly share or post proctored exam questions, mock interview questions marked as confidential, or proprietary problem sets from the coding practice section to any external platform (including Stack Overflow, GitHub, social media, forums, or messaging groups).
  • You must not attempt to escape the sandboxed code execution environment or use code submissions to probe or attack system resources.
  • You must not use automated tools or AI assistants to answer coding problems or interview questions in real-time proctored sessions, as this defeats the purpose of skill assessment.

1.5 Messaging & Social Features

  • You must not use the platform's messaging features to harass, threaten, abuse, spam, or discriminate against other users.
  • Unsolicited bulk messages to other users are prohibited.
  • You must not send content that is unlawful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or hateful through the platform's messaging system.

1.6 AI Features & Content

  • You must not use the AI features to generate content for purposes other than your own genuine career development (e.g., generating resumes on behalf of others for commercial gain, generating content for spam campaigns).
  • You must not attempt to manipulate the AI systems through prompt injection, adversarial inputs, or jailbreaking techniques.
  • Reselling or commercially distributing AI-generated output from the Service without our express written consent is prohibited.

2. Additional Rules for Recruiters

2.1 Job Postings

  • Recruiters must only post genuine, current, and legitimate job openings for roles that actually exist at their organisation or client organisation.
  • Job postings must not be misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent. This includes fake job listings used for data harvesting, competitor intelligence, or any other non-recruitment purpose.
  • Job postings must clearly state the role, employment type, approximate location, and compensation range where required by law.
  • Job postings must comply with all applicable Indian labour laws, including equal opportunity and anti-discrimination provisions.
  • You must not post the same vacancy repeatedly to game listing rankings.

2.2 Non-Discrimination

  • Job postings and candidate outreach must not discriminate on the basis of caste, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other protected characteristic under Indian law.
  • Recruiters must not filter or reject candidates based on criteria that constitute discrimination under the Constitution of India or applicable employment laws.

2.3 Candidate Data

  • Recruiters may only view candidate profiles and statistics of candidates who have explicitly opted in to recruiter visibility.
  • Candidate data obtained through the platform may only be used for evaluating candidates for the specific posted roles.
  • You must not scrape, bulk-export, or otherwise programmatically extract candidate data from the platform.
  • You must not contact candidates through channels outside the platform's designated messaging system without their explicit consent.
  • Candidate data must not be shared with third parties, used for marketing or advertising, or retained beyond the recruitment lifecycle.

2.4 Verification

  • Recruiter accounts are subject to verification by OpenCareerAI. Providing false information during the verification process is grounds for immediate termination.
  • Recruiters must notify us promptly if their organisation's circumstances change (e.g., company closure, change of business, revocation of authority to recruit).

3. Prohibited Content

You must not upload, submit, post, or transmit any content that:

  • Is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, or threatening under Indian law.
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
  • Contains personally identifiable information about another person without their consent.
  • Constitutes hate speech, discrimination, or incitement to violence.
  • Contains malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, or any other malicious code.

4. Consequences of Violations

We reserve the right to take the following actions for violations of this AUP, at our sole discretion:

  • Warning: A formal notice for minor first-time violations.
  • Content removal: Immediate removal of any content that violates this AUP.
  • Temporary suspension: Temporary restriction of access to all or part of the Service.
  • Permanent termination: Permanent ban from the Service, without refund, for serious or repeated violations.
  • Legal action: Referral to law enforcement or civil legal proceedings for violations that constitute criminal conduct, data theft, fraud, or other unlawful acts.

OpenCareerAI is not obligated to provide a warning before taking action. Decisions regarding enforcement are made at our sole discretion and are final.

5. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of a violation of this AUP by another user, please report it to us at support@opencareerai.com with a description of the violation and any supporting evidence. We will investigate all credible reports.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
